New Traditions

Playa Guiones, Nosara, Costa Rica

One of my favorite things about life in Nosara is the sunset tradition. Just about everyone in town gathers at the beach for this magical golden hour. Some enjoy the surf, some a long walk on the beach, and some a cocktail or two as they watch the golden orb make its way to the horizon. In Playa Guiones, your friends are made according to which beach access you frequent. There’s really no need to exchange phone numbers because you can always expect to see your new friends on the beach at sunset. So, of course, this has become our new tradition. Since I can’t surf right now I am left to just sit, stroll and enjoy these beautiful moments on the beach. This is a picture I took yesterday during one such moment at the southern access of Playa Guiones. This access is much less populated than the more northern entries because the waves are smaller here and the housing more residential. This will be our access. One day. When our house is built. I look forward to making this a family tradition when our little one comes. I envision blankets and sand buckets surrounded by surfboards and topped with a cooler of ice cold beer.
