Not Your Typical Sunset

Crystal Stafford, Playa Pelada, Nosara, Costa Rica

Who said a sunset photo had to actually be of the sunset?

It’s my blog. I can do what I want.

And last night that’s what I did. We celebrated my first mother’s day at La Luna in Playa Pelada and just as the sun was making its final descent toward the horizon I snuck out to the beach. I looked around at the beautiful scenery that I have photographed so many times and asked myself, “What can I do differently here?”

Now that my world has had a momentary reduction to the walkable few kilometers surrounding myself and baby, I am forced to look at the world a little differently in order to keep the photos interesting. So I saw the interesting shapes that black sand made in the canvas of white sand just before the water’s edge and I decided to focus on just this little spot here, as the sunset painted the beach in magic.
